Description
This is the King of Gold Eagles. The mintage of24,100
makes the
1991
by far the lowest of any regular issue Gold Eagle to date. What else has to be said about mintage rarity.
As of 7/4/2021 PCGS has graded just
1252
of these at the
MSS69
level and only
21
higher at
MS70
. Fewer and fewer 1991`s can be found in gradable condition as time goes by, making the supply relatively stable. That of course means that this coin becomes rarer over time as more are absorbed by collectors. Should gold move higher this coin will perhaps benefit to a greater degree than many others in the Gold Eagle family.
If you would like to own this near perfect King of the Eagles now may present an outstanding investment opportunity. Delay may prove costly.
The coin has been in my personal collection for many years and was graded before what Numismatic News refers to gradeflation, a belief by many that grading standards have been loosened in recent years.
