Who Is Muna Pandey? 21-Year-Old Student Shot Dead In Home

A 21-year-old student was found shot to death in her home in Texas on Monday, and the Houston Police Department have since reported an arrest made in connection with the incident.
The girl identified was called Muna Pandey.
Pandey, originally from Nepal, was a student at Houston Community College studying nursing while working at a local phone store, the Daily Mail reported.
She was an only child raised by a single mother, Anita Pandey Adhikari, and had come to the U.S. to pursue her studies at the age of 21 after graduating, according to NEPYORK, a website focused on the Nepalese community in New York.
Upon her arrival, she initially lived with a friend from Nepal, Orusha Niraula, but later moved into her own accommodation, the outlet reported.
It was reported that Muna was in a relationship with a man at the time of her death.
Pandey’s former roommate shared a tribute on Facebook writing, “Muna was like a sister to me—full of life, kindness, and joy. Her bubbly personality and infectious laughter made every moment brighter. It’s heartbreaking that someone so wonderful was taken from us so cruelly.”
According to a Fox 26 report, those who knew her described her as kind, intelligent, and a dear friend.
One of her friends, Bertin Alvarado, said, “You always hear on the news about some young girl, and whenever you think it can be one of your friends, it’s just shocking.”
Pandey is the second college student to have been found dead in Houston this week.
The first was Andrea Rodriguez Avila, a junior at Rice University, who was found dead inside her university accommodation along with her boyfriend, and cops believed her to be the victim of a murder-suicide, the Daily Mail reported.
Pandey was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in her Texas home, at 6363 West Airport Boulevard on Monday evening at around 5.35 p.m., after her family noticed her cellphone was unreachable for three days, Houston police shared.
Per the police report, Houston patrol officers responded to a person down call to find Pandey dead in her apartment. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
The staff in the apartment complex Pandey lived in also told officers they’d received an anonymous call about a body inside the apartment, the report added.
A suspect was spotted on surveillance camera footage, which the police have shared online, that shows a person leaving Pandey’s home on Saturday evening.
An arrest has been made by the Houston Police, Fox 26 reports, but the investigation remains ongoing.
Newsweek has contacted the Houston Police Department for more information on the case.
